Image
Well thats a wrap for another year! The 2 day tournament is done and dusted........... however our Jenny Chapman, who stood down today from Captain to Vice Captain, showed her happiness with how much the event was a success. I can tell you she had a look of relief on her face that she doesn't have to run the show next year 😂😓 These photos kind of show her elation : Congratulations to all the Breakers ladies who played in the event. Special mention to Bronwyn Dwyer who was runner up in Division 2 over the 2 days and Nell Spargo 3rd in Division 2 for 18 holes on Tuesday. Also good news I won I ball 😂

Pink Day Results

Image
Finally we have completed our Pink Day fundraiser. A big thank you to all for your generosity. We have raised $2300 to go to our Charity "Look Good Feel Better". It's amazing how a PINK BALL can cause so much stress! 😂😂😂 Some people were glad to see it disappear into the brown depth of our waters, others almost went to lengths of removing shoes and socks to get it back and then we had teams who guarded their ball and steered it home. There were plenty of laughs amongst the teams, apologies from  players who lost the pink ball and some good clean banter between teams. Results:

CCWGA NEWS.

Image
Hi Ladies, As I mentioned at the AGM last week, a few ladies from Gosford and the CCWGA were invited to afternoon tea at the Dooralong Transformation Centre on Friday. We were shown the golf cart (photos attached) that has been purchased with the $13,500 the district ladies raised for the charity this year. It was great to see where our money has gone, and they are extremely grateful for the very generous donation which is already being used all the time to transport people and goods around the grounds.   The scones and jam and cream were amazing too! Fyi...check out the plaque they have attached in our honour. Also note the number plate which is in honour of a special member of their organisation who has successfully been through  their program, now lives on site and volunteers his time every day to help others in need.   Cheers, Jenny

STABLEFORD SHOOTOUT 2018

Image
Reporter Curby's  write up: Forget The Everest!!   Today’s Breakers Stableford Shootout was the place to be!   What a day weatherwise – the right amount of wind and sunshine to make a huge difference to the race track.   A large amount of excited spectators were present to see these record breaking fillies trot their stuff and what a field it was! Competition was fierce in order to obtain a much coveted spot in this year’s Shootout.   The field read as follows: In Barrier 1 the Filly from the McInerney stable – a proven sprinter – not sure how this frisky filly will handle today’s heavy track. This filly was the highest qualifier for this prestigious event and is highly motivated. In Barrier 2 – the Filly from the Chilman stable – this filly may be small in stature but, when she puts her mind to it, she can outclass the best of them.  She did this in order to gain her spot today as the second highest qualifier. In Barrier 3 – the Filly from the Holt stable – a relative

Shoot Out

The SHOOT OUT IS ON......... Bunkers are out, modifications to some holes. Bring your gum boots ☺️ Afternoon tea in the club as planned

STABLEFORD SHOOTOUT

At this stage the Shootout is on subject to the weather in the next 24 hours! The bunkers will be out of play and we will use a modified course. Jenny and I will walk the course again in the morning to make final decisions. We will post a definite decision on the Blog and Facebook by 10.00 am. We hope as many people as possible will come to cheer on the competitors. (It might be a good idea to not wear your best clothes and to put on some old waterproof shoes!!) Regardless of whether or not the golf is played the "after party" will still be on from about 2.00pm upstairs. See you then. Cross fingers for no more rain. Colleen

Margaret Thorpe’s wake.

We brought home the Shield

Image
Yesterday the CCWGA 4BBB Par Classic & Gwen Thompson Memorial Shield was held at Wyong. Breakers had teams of Judi Eaton and Michelle Collyer and Jill Lavery and Jenny Chapman playing for Bonville. Judi and Michelle had a +3 to win on a count back and we would like to congratulate them as they are off to BONVILLE 👏👏👏 Our two other teams playing for the Gwen Thompson Shield were Janice Adlard and Sally Hopkins and Bronwyn Dwyer and Michelle Hughes. Bronwyn and Michelle won the daily event with +5 on a count back over Janice and Sally. This is were the news gets even better, with the four teams combined scores we finished on +11 giving us the win for the Gwen Thompson Shield. Breakers haven't won the Shield since 1995. Big Congratulations to our Breakers Team. Janice had NTP in 1st Div on the 4th and Judi won the 100's club.

Board Results

Hi Ladies Congratulations to Bronwyn Dwyer who was successful in being appointed to the Club’s Board We had a very unusual situation with Peter Wilson and myself tied in votes for 2nd. After much deliberation it was found that the Club had to ‘draw names from a hat’ in this situation. We attended this draw at 5pm today and under close scrutiny  Peter’s name was drawn. It was one of those ‘what is meant to be’ situations. Bronwyn will make a fantastic Board member and they are very lucky to have her. Hope you will join me in supporting Bronwyn at the AGM at 6pm on Wednesday evening. What a week! Regards Charmaine

Funeral Arrangements

We have been informed that Margie Thorpe's funeral is being held at 10am on Friday 19th October at Star of the Sea Catholic Church Terrigal. Please wear your blue club shirt and white bottoms as mark of respect. Thank you Charmaine

Very Sad News

Image
Hi Ladies This is difficult to write but I have to let you know that our lovely friend Margaret Thorpe passed away in the early hours of this morning. Margie put up a brave fight but in the end it was too much for her. She will be missed by many. We will keep you updated once we know funeral arrangements. Two of Margie’s family members are overseas at the moment so there may be some delay. With sadness Charmaine.

PINK DAY

Image
Hi Ladies Our Pink Day yesterday was a huge success despite the rain.  It was a shame we had to cancel the golf side of things but we will have another chance on 8th November. Thank you to all the ladies who came to the Club in the rain mostly decked out in pink.  We had 24 raffle prizes plus two exclusive ballet tickets for our silent auction thanks to some very generous sponsors.    You will be pleased to know that we raised $1848 with the raffle and the auction.  There will be more to add to this after our game on 8th November, so our charity ‘Look Good Feel Better’ will be receiving a very healthy donation from us this year.  The generosity of our ladies is always amazing.  Even some who could not attend left money with others to purchase raffle tickets. So well done ladies and a big thank you. Regards Charmaine

PINK DAY CANCELLED

Rain heading our way forecast nasty.  See you all at 11am. Monster raffle drawn at 12pm silent auction starting at 11am. See you all at 11am bring your money.

PINK DAY

We know the forecast is not good. However, we have organized lots of fantastic prizes for the raffle,  ntps  ,  and the golf  winners  so we are reluctant to call it off at this stage. So, please wait until the morning to make a decision on whether you will play. We will let you know what is happening via Facebook and the blog hopefully by 7am. If it is possible ,  we will play, and may decide to make the event nine holes only.  If teams are not complete we can combine them.  If that isn’t feasible, then we will go to Plan B and cancel the golf.  Regardless of what happens with the golf, we need your support to  raise  as much as we can from the raffles.  At least some of the  many  golf prizes , which have been donated,  wi ll be added to the raffle and don’t forget there is the silent auction for the ballet tickets.  So, we will also let you know in the morning what time to come to the club for the coffee/lunch/raffles/auction.  If no golf, this will happen about 11am.  H
